Hey folks,
Just adding some information to the recent blog post:)
Morning Meeting:
A new game we tried is called "Elephant, Palm Tree Boat." You can ask your student about it.
The students concluded their research projects for Women's History Month. They learned skills such as checking sources for credibility, paraphrasing, and public speaking while also learning about a woman with historical impact. Here are some pictures of the projects in progress, and then also a few of the students presenting to their class. They did a really amazing job on these projects.
In preparation for our next unit, students helped present the "Chef's Specials" during our Book Buffet. This means they volunteered to read the teaser for a book. All students subsequently previewed books and filled out a "Comment Card" with their top choices for which books they would most like to read. Students will be put into partnerships for this unit. One of the main objectives of this book unit is to have students read books that help build empathy for others, as all of the main characters overcome some type of extreme hardship. Of course, we will also focus on a variety of language arts skills. ;)
